The wind blows
it bends the grass like peasants in the field
I turn my face
valleys carved in the mountains of my gooseflesh

and a fraction of the universe diffuses into my blood
The water ripples
as a million suns dance upon my retina
An old man dies
his heart beats new life into the soil
Dev and Kat made the top of the ridge a little before noon. As they crested the slope, miles and miles of icy panorama slowly came into view. They smiled at each other briefly before Kat walked off to take cover behind a large crag.
Dev was about to join her when he noticed something fluttering a couple hundred yards down the far side of the mountain. He waved Kat back out from behind the rock and pointed.
"Do you see that?"
He had to yell through the wind for the words to reach her. Kat shielded her eyes and peered down the ridge. Definitely something unusual down there. Possibly a tent. But it was hard to make out through the sheet of ice kicking up into her face.

“Get Dom on the Radio. Tell him I'm going down.” Dom and the rest of the team were at least an hour behind. Kat wanted to go with Dev, but fought the urge. She knew that if he got himself in trouble, someone needed to tell the rest of the team where to look for his body. Kat returned to the cover of the crag and pulled out the radio. As she waited for Dom to respond, she let out a deep sigh. It bloomed into a thick puff of needle-like ice and froze across her face.(less)
