It was a little after four in the morning, local time. Gotou lay on his side in an unfamiliar bed, Masayoshi's arm over his side, cuddled up against his back and sleeping much better than Gotou himself was. Gotou watched the minutes on the digital alarm clock flip from(more) 11 to 12, and closed his eyes, trying desperately to catch at least a few hours before the sun began to rise.
It just wasn't happening.
The funny thing was, NOW he was a nervous wreck. Not two nights ago, when he was sleeping alone in the bed he usually shared with Masayoshi, a tuxedo hanging over his open closet door, the wedding itself looming like Damocles' sword. Masayoshi sighed deeply against the back of Gotou's neck, and dropped off again just that fast, his breathing steady and even. Gotou envied him that comfort, as sleep still eluded his grasp.
But, Gotou realized drowsily, really nothing had changed between them except two little rings and a piece of paper - no matter how enormous it felt NOW. "Love you," he whispered into the dark, and Masayoshi squeezed his hand.(less)
i wanted to go by my middle name in a new, strange place but couldn't fathom the flesh of it. i couldn't picture myself on a proper adventure. hidden, instead, behind my lenses.
i couldn't have an original thought in my he(more)ad if i tried. my brain is on fire with possibilities, making it impossible. i want to quadruple myself and send each clone off into the world and do something differently. i wonder who would really win.
i was standing with my guy, his arm hard around me and his soul hard through the room. she was staring at me with big green eyes and a soulless bmw of a man on her arm. i wondered what really mattered. (less)
