If it weren't bolted down I suppose someone would have stolen it by now. Smash and grab. Five finger discount. Whatever you chose to call it when you thought no one was looking.
If you create something meant to be given to the world, letting go is part(more) of the process. But deep down I still want to keep it in sight. Make sure it's warm and fed and well cared for. I want to spy on it. I want to see how people react to it. How they interact with it, and how it interacts with them.
Sometimes I want to be the work. If I weren't bolted down would someone steal me? Would someone want me badly enough to take me away from every one else and keep me hidden away from discovery? Or sell me on the black market to a collector of ill gotten goods?
Or would they get home and realize that in their haste they grabbed the wrong one? What do you do then? Try to sneak back in and put it back in place like nothing ever happened? How should I feel about that?
I could feel bad because you would rather it never happened. Or I could be grateful for at least a little adventure. I guess that's the way to go.
